WINE TASTING
Macán Clásico Rioja is an exceptional and refined wine, created by two powerhouses in the wine industry. Benjamin de Rothschild, the owner of the prestigious estates in Bordeaux, and Vega Sicilia, the renowned Spanish wine producer, have combined their expertise to deliver this outstanding Rioja wine.
The wine is made from Tempranillo grapes grown in the finest vineyards in Rioja, giving it its deep ruby-red colour and rich aroma. The wine boasts a complex flavour profile, with hints of dark fruit, vanilla, and spice, and finishes with a long, smooth aftertaste. It is a wine that deserves to be savoured and enjoyed with fine cuisine and good company. Aromas of blackberries and crushed stones with some black liquorice and violets, following through to a medium body with a solid core of fruit and such attractive fruit and fine tannins at the finish. Really attractive now.
FOOD PAIRING
Best served with a superb piece of barbecued rubia gallega steak and salad.

The Source
Vega Sicilia
Vega Sicilia, Spain’s “first growth” and most prestigious wine estate, is located in Ribera del Duero. It was founded in 1864 by Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves and has changed hands several times before its acquisition by the current owners, the Álvarez family, in 1982. The estate’s success is founded on its meticulous approach. In the vineyard it applies low yields, aided by green harvesting and painstaking selection at harvest. In the winery, wines are aged in any number of receptacles – using French and American, new and old oak, small barrels or huge vats – to engender further complexity. Despite prolonged barrel ageing, the fruit is never dried out or overly oaky – compelling evidence of the superb quality of its raw materials. Vega Sicilia has now built up a portfolio which includes Bodegas Alion (providing a more modern expression of Ribera del Duero), Bodegas Pintia (in the emerging region Toro), Macán (a partnership with Benjamin de Rothschild) and the Hungarian Tokaji estate, Oremus.
