    Spanish Turron

Whether you are a connoisseur of Spanish Turron or trying it for the first time, our diverse range of products caters to every palate.

    What is Turron?

Turron is a traditional Spanish confection that has delighted taste buds for centuries. Originating from the region of Alicante, turron is a type of nougat made primarily from almonds, honey, sugar, and egg whites.

It comes in various textures and flavors, with the most famous varieties being Turron de Jijona (soft and chewy) and Turron de Alicante (hard and brittle).

This sweet treat is especially popular during Christmas, symbolising the rich culinary heritage of Spain. It’s not only a festive favourite, but also a delicious snack enjoyed year-round, making it a must-try for anyone who appreciates fine confections.

    How is Turron Made?

The process of making this delicious treat is a meticulous craft that combines traditional techniques with high-quality ingredients.

To create Turron de Jijona, also known as soft turron, ground almonds are mixed with honey and sugar, then slowly cooked to a smooth, creamy consistency. Egg whites are added to give it a light, airy texture.

For Turron de Alicante, or hard turron, whole almonds are mixed with a honey and sugar syrup, then cooked until they form a brittle, crunchy matrix.

Both types are typically moulded into rectangular bars and allowed to set before being packaged. The result is a decadent treat that captures the essence of Spanish culinary artistry.

    How to Eat Turron

Enjoying turron is a simple yet delightful experience. For Turron de Jijona, the soft, creamy texture makes it easy to slice and serve alongside a cup of coffee or tea. It pairs wonderfully with fresh fruit or can be used as an indulgent topping for desserts like ice cream or yogurt.

Turron de Alicante, with its crunchy texture, is best enjoyed broken into smaller pieces and savoured on its own. It also makes a delightful addition to a cheese board, providing a sweet contrast to savoury cheeses.

Whether as a festive treat or a gourmet snack, turron is versatile and delicious, bringing a taste of Spanish tradition to any occasion.
