La Rioja Alta Viña Arana Gran Reserva 2017 is a beautifully balanced and approachable Gran Reserva, showcasing the elegance and precision that define this historic Rioja producer.
Crafted from a blend of Tempranillo (95%) and Graciano (5%), sourced from select vineyards in Rioja Alta, the 2017 vintage delivers freshness, aromatic lift and refined structure. This wine is aged for three years in American oak barrels—made in-house by the estate’s own coopers, followed by further bottle ageing to achieve harmony and complexity.
On the nose, expect vibrant red berry fruit, dried cherry and plum, layered with notes of sweet spice, vanilla, tobacco and balsamic hints. The palate is smooth, elegant and well-balanced, with silky tannins, bright acidity and a long, polished finish.
Viña Arana sits stylistically between the power of 904 and the grandeur of 890, offering a more accessible yet still complex Gran Reserva, perfect for both immediate enjoyment and mid-term cellaring.
