TASTING NOTES
La Val is a delicious coupage made from albariño grapes from three estates located in the Condado de Tea subzone: Taboexa and Arantei, situated just a few meters above sea level. These parcels, with very different soils, contributed great complexity to the wine, making it a tasty white that offers high doses of freshness and vivacity, filling the palate with citrus notes and ending with a long saline and mineral finish.
When José Limeres Guille decided to create Bodegas La Val in 1985, the production of albariño in Galicia was almost entirely dominated by homemade experiments. Only a handful of visionaries like him believed in the potential of this grape, which is now one of the most important varieties in the country. Bodegas La Val promoted the creation of the D.O. Rías Baixas and has established itself as a benchmark in this region.
Pale straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, clean and bright with good aromatic intensity where primary aromas of fruit (apricot, apple and pineapple), hints of fresh herbs (bay leaf and fennel) and citrus (grapefruit) stand out, all on a floral and saline background. Medium structure on the palate and long finish with great balance and freshness. Fruity throughout with citrus notes and Atlantic herbs. Saline and bitter finish.
FOOD PAIRING
La Val Albariño pairs excellently with seafood dishes like grilled prawns or oysters. Its citrus notes complement the natural sweetness of seafood. For poultry, try it with lemon-roasted chicken to enhance its floral hints. It also goes well with fresh salads, especially those with citrus vinaigrette.
