Arbequina and Hojiblanca
Hacienda Ipora Seleccion Familiar from the D.O. Estepa, is made from Arbequina and Hojiblanca variety olives all of which are grown and milled on the Hacienda Ipora estate. This unique produces an oil that combines each variety's best features to give it a personality all of its own. The intense aroma has reminiscences of green freshly mowed grass, ripe bananas and sweet almonds. In the palate, the nutty taste ends in a very slight peppery bite. Winner of a 3 star Great Taste Award in 2012.
This olive oil pairs really well in chocolate desserts!
The Hacienda Ipora estate lies in the heart of the Estepa region on the eastern edge of the province of Seville. It is flanked on the east by the Estepa mountains and its stony uplands offer a spectacular view of the olive groves on the gently rolling slopes below. Seville's fertile farmland borders the estate's western and northern sides, while the Penibetic mountains dominate the horizon to the south. The estate dates back to the former Hispano-Roman town of Ípora and has had links with olive production ever since. The old oil mill set in the midst of the olive trees bears witness to this tradition. It is one of the three mills originally owned by the Marquis of Estepa in the 16th century and was used to press olives from across the region. Today, it is a state-of-the-art olive-oil plant. The estate's 650-hectare olive grove still includes century-old traditionally dry-farmed olive trees alongside the intensively farmed irrigated crop.
